The “Suwaidi Pearls” pearl farm is located in the small fishing village of Al Rams, which nestles at the bottom of the majestic Al Hajar mountain range in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE.
Established in 2005 by Mr. Abdulla Al Suwaidi, the world’s first Arabian pearl farmer. For the first time in history, the region is now farming Arabian Pearls in the surrounding seas. This historic development links the past to the future and is the defining journey from historic natural pearls to the pearls of the region today.
Suwaidi Pearls had opened its doors to the public to share the unique cultural heritage of the pearling industry, explaining the historical evolution and inviting guests to see the underwater treasures of the natural lagoon. Rich in biodiversity and an area of outstanding natural beauty, all around are the gifts of nature. The area is a garden of paradise and a magical place that brings a serenity to the surrounding area.
THE LAST PEARL DIVER
Abdullah Rashid Al-Suwaidi strives to restore the luster of Arabian pearls, and as one of the few remaining natural pearl divers and founder of the only Arabian pearl farm in the world, he proudly carries the message that pearls have a lot to teach present and future generations especially on issues of environment, sustainability, society and trade.
However, as a direct descendant of the last row of true pearl divers, he is also a living example of their spirit of immense resilience and eagerly strives to inspire audiences with stories of their passion, dedication and nobility.
Abdulla’s sum of his local and international governmental experience amid the rising tide of globalization has only served to reaffirm his belief that the values of the past, instilled in him by his grandfather’s pearl-diver generation, still contain pearls of wisdom that can prove invaluable in helping to unite people Around the world today, despite religious, racial and ethnic backgrounds.

Abdullah Al Suwaidi set up the region’s first pearl farmer in 2005 on the very waters that had produced the finest Arabian pearls coveted by royals, nobles and celebrities in distant lands.
As the grandson of one of the last remaining pearl divers of the UAE, through his pearl farm, Suwaidi is single-handedly working to revive a tradition and industry that disappeared from the Gulf region almost a century ago.
At the harbor, one can see men go about their daily routine of mending nets and cleaning after the morning catch is done. In this idyllic haven sails the traditional pearling boat to visit the pearl farm at the foot of Jebel Rams.

A Journey of Passion to Purpose
It takes a one man’s dream to bring the Arabian pearl back to its shores and this can only be achieved with the prior understanding of pearls that is deeply embedded in the core of the Arabian people such is the prerogatives of Abdulla Al Suwaidi, the Guardian of the Pearls.
Abdulla has a symbiotic relationship with pearls and for him, pearls symbolise wisdom and are the subject of many wonderful myths and legends. Therefore, the history and legacy of his ancestors and their intimate relationship with the pearls have inspired and made him who he is, whilst his high esteem for these oceanic gems has driven him to secure their heritage and future.
He knows his life’s purpose and it is clear as the seas surrounding his home in Rams, the village of the pearl people in Ras Al Khaimah. His vision, his passion and his dreams are rooted in the Arabian Pearl.
